John Allen has 25 years’ experience in senior and executive government roles.
At age 31 John reached his accounting career goal acting as Chief Finance Officer for Queensland Department of Premier and Cabinet, it was at this point he realised his passion was for people rather than just numbers.
John then moved into specialising in learning and development in the Department of Health with the aim of increasing the financial capability of cost centre managers, business managers and clinicians and allied health staff. While doing this role John also worked as a senior accountant delivering annual financial statements for 12 years.
This extensive background in implementing government financial reforms and managing the financial operations for government departments sets John apart from other executive coaches and leadership trainers as he can deliver practical financial and governance training from real world experience.
As Director in Training Capability since 2012, John is contracted by numerous private and public hospital and health services to deliver finance and leadership training to improve the financial capability of clinicians and cost centre managers. The enhancement in the financial capability of cost centre managers has, in turn, led to positive financial turnarounds for hospital and health services.
As an experienced facilitator and management consultant, John has drawn on his extensive practical expertise to customise training programs including;
- understanding accounting and finance
- developing key performance indicators
- budget management
- risk management
- fraud awareness, and
- savings strategies.
